We are pleased to announce that Tao Yang, a PhD student co-supervised by Dr. Yujin Tong, has successfully defended his doctoral thesis titled "Nonlinear Optical and Electronic Properties of MoS2 Monolayer on Gold Revealed by Sum Frequency Generation Spectroscopy: From Equilibrium to Nonequilibrium" on December 20, 2024. Tao's research focused on the fundamental nonlinear optical and electronic properties of MoS2 monolayers and their interactions with gold, using advanced sum frequency generation spectroscopy techniques. His work has provided valuable insights into the behavior of 2D materials under various conditions. [see these publications for details 1, 2, 3]

Tao’s outstanding contribution to the field has earned him the prestigious distinction of Magna Cum Laude. Congratulations to Tao for this remarkable achievement!

We wish Tao the best of luck as he embarks on the next chapter of his career.
