Isolating Optical Responses in MoS₂/Au Junctions

This study explores the optical behavior of MoS₂ monolayers in contact with Au. Using polarization-controlled final-state sum frequency generation (FS-SFG), we isolated the monolayer’s response, revealing a linear spectral lineshape that reflects the constant density of states at the band edge, free from excitonic effects. Our findings highlight a significant bandgap renormalization to ~1.65 ± 0.20 eV, offering valuable insights for 2D semiconductor-based optoelectronics and photocatalysis.
